LITTLER STUNS MANCHESTER UNITED STAR!
25/01/2024 By Phil Lanning
LUKE LITTLER blitzed Harry Maguire in a special nine-dart Manchester United challenge.
The Warrington wonderkid visited the training ground of his beloved Reds at Carrington.
Littler, 17, met up with manager Erik ten Hag, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay.
Then he took on Maguire on the oche to see how it would take Littler to outscore the defender after nine darts.
Maguire was very impressive hitting 171 including a treble 20 and four single 20s on the way as he was cheered on team-mates Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Rasmus Hojlund.
But, remarkably, Littler then stepped up and hit a 180 with his opening three darts to leave the United stars cheering.
Littler gets back down to the real business at the Dutch Darts Masters on Friday night in Den Bosch.
He has been drawn to face home star Dirk van Duijvenbode. Ironically a fortnight ago at Old Trafford when asked what other dart player would make a good footballer, Littler replied: “Dirk van Duijvenbode, very tall put him at the back.”
It’s been a whirlwind for Littler since his run to the World Championship final and victory at the Bahrain Masters a week ago.
On his last trip to the Theatre of Dreams he revealed that he would rather hit a nine-darter than a hat-trick for Manchester United – and five days later hit the perfect leg in the Bahrain Masters!
On his favourite ever moment watching the Reds, he said “We were 2-0 to Atalanta in the Champions League. We come back and won. Maguire, Rashford and then I saw Ronaldo score the winner.”
He was also asked which other dart player would be good in a football team, he said: Littler also reckoned that the best darts nickname for Rashford would be “goalscorer” and Scott McTominay “leader”.
The new oche hero met Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford along with Bruno Fernandes. He also revealed that David Beckham had slid into his DMs and told him: “Well done, once a red, always a red.”
