MARDLE HAILS HUMPHRIES AS “UNTOUCHABLE” IN PREMIER LEAGUE SURGE

WAYNE MARDLE believes Luke Humphries is becoming “untouchable” at exactly the right time after storming into the Premier League play-offs.
The world No2 won Night 15 in Birmingham after averaging over a ton in all three of his matches against Stephen Bunting, Luke Littler and Gerwyn Price.
Cool Hand has now reached THREE consecutive nightly finals after a slow start to the campaign left his Finals Night hopes in doubt.
Sky Sports pundit Mardle believes the former world champion’s stunning recent form has turned him into the player everyone wants to avoid.
He said: “The way Humphries played getting through to the final was kind of untouchable.
“The scoring against Littler and Bunting… it’s not just the one treble visit, it’s the twos and threes that get the better of any opponent even if they are playing well.
“He’s held it together, three finals in three weeks, winning this one tonight, it deals with anything next week so there are no negatives at all.
“You need to time your run to perfection, and he may be doing that. I mean, who is playing better at the moment?”
The Cheshire thrower has an incredible record at the O2, reaching the final on his debut in 2024 before lifting the title last year.
On both occasions, Humphries faced fierce rival Littler as the pair continued their dominance of the sport’s biggest tournaments.
But Gerwyn Price and fellow Welshman Jonny Clayton will both be determined to spoil the party after qualifying alongside the star duo for Finals Night.
