PRICE CHASING PRIZE MONEY OVER TROPHIES IN TOP FOUR BID

19/02/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

GERWYN PRICE insists he is chasing cheques not trophies as he eyes a return to the top four.

‘The Iceman’ has been in great form winning Night Two of the Premier League and reaching the final of Players Championship Two.

World No.11 Price insists he is playing some of the best darts of his career but has not lifted a major title since the 2022 World Series Finals.

Price says consistency and prize money are now his main focus as he looks to climb back into the world’s elite bracket.

He said: “I’m playing decent stuff but just not getting over the winning line. I can only keep going like this and something is going to happen.

“I’m sat there at ProTours looking at other results and thinking, why is everyone smashing in ton-plus averages against me and I’m having it tough?

“It keeps you on your toes but I just want some more wins in more tournaments.

“In patches I am playing the best I have ever done. So is everybody else even better?

“To be honest, I’d love to win tournaments but it’s not a be-all and end-all as long as I keep winning money and staying up in the top eight in the world, hopefully getting back into the top four.”

The Markham thrower faces Jonny Clayton on Night Three of the Premier League at Glasgow.

Price remains firmly in the mix among the sport’s big hitters and believes silverware will follow if he keeps producing the level of darts he knows he is capable of.

He added: “I’d love to win majors but it’s not something I put myself under pressure for.

“I was just trying to get two points on the board. Next week I will be more relaxed and hopefully I play a lot better.

“I won’t be chasing points as much as I was this week. So I will be even better, hit a couple of nine-darters and hopefully win another night.”
