PRICE POWERS TO PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP SIX TITLE

25/02/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

GERWYN PRICE sent a fierce warning to his rivals as he vowed to climb the rankings after winning Players Championship Six.

‘The Iceman’ picked up his 28th ProTour title and the £15,000 top prize in Leicester as he thrashed Andrew Gilding 8-1 in the final.

World No.10 Price produced a sensational display, averaging 104.47 to see off fellow Welshman Jonny Clayton 7-4 in the semi-finals, having earlier rattled in a stunning 108.59 average to dispatch Kevin Doets in the last eight.

Price admitted he felt pressure to deliver after an early exit the previous day.

He said: “I think I should have won a couple of weeks ago, but I am happy to get to another final after losing in the first round yesterday.

“I was under a little bit of pressure to pick up some ranking points today and I am happy with the win.

“I thought I played decent today. There were one or two games where I was not at my best, even in the final.

“But I had enough in the tank.

“I’m hardly defending anything. Two years ago I had the worst year I ever had in the PDC, so I am defending absolutely nothing this year.

“Whoever is above me, I am going to catch them. If I get through the first round, I feel like I am unbeatable.”

Price now turns his attention to Night Four of the Premier League in Belfast as he faces Michael van Gerwen.

He added: “It’s a big night for me in the Premier League tomorrow, so it is good to get confidence from winning this.

“I am looking forward to tomorrow as well.

“I’m literally dropping the mic, getting in my car and heading straight to Birmingham Airport, so hopefully I catch the 9:30pm flight.

“If I don’t, then I have to fly tomorrow. Fingers crossed I make that one.”

Elsewhere, Beau Greaves made history as the first ever female to hit a perfect leg on the ProTour.

The Doncaster star hit the nine-darter in a 6-5 win over Mensur Suljovic in round two at the Mattioli Arena.
