PRICE REVEALS INSANE WEIGHT LOSS AND MOTIVATION FOR MONEY

GERWYN PRICE admits he’s shed THREE stone in his quest to bag cheques and not trophies.

Seven-times major winner Price dispatched Joe Comito 6-3 in Wollongong with a blistering 100.45 average.

Former World Champion Price slid into a gold shirt for the Australian Masters having won the World Series title a year ago after defeating Luke Littler in the final.

Price is determined to claim a World title and secure the World No.1 spot by the end of the year though he’s open about what really fuels his ambition.

He said: “Trophies don’t matter to me. It’s the ranking points and a bit of money at the minute.

“I have a family to look after, as long as I provide for those, build a platform, invest my money well.

“I love to win trophies, to do well, leave a legacy but money means everything, doesn’t it?

“I want to win every tournament I go into and put myself under pressure. You cannot win everything, the way the standard is at the minute.

“I will try my best. What eases the pressure is I have invested my money well. I am not under pressure if I don’t win, if I do then the rewards are there.”

The 40-year-old has undergone a remarkable body transformation and lost huge amounts of weight to improve his game at the oche.

He added: “I am not sure what I have lost. How many kilos in a stone? I think I have lost between 13-15kgs.

“About three stone. Dieting, back in the gym, looking after myself. I don’t think it affects me physically when I am throwing but mentally it definitely helps.

“I feel comfortable. I am in some smaller clothes, I feel better in myself, mentally it’s a lot better.

“I tried to squeeze into a large size a little bit too soon and after a month or two, I was able to fit into it, it was alright then.

“Is this a long-term approach? I am not sure, I have started craving McDonald’s now and again.

“I was having one at 6.30am. So, give it another month, if I keep doing that, it will be back on.”

Markham thrower Price kicked off the match with a maximum and took an early 2-0 lead in the bout against Comito.

‘The Iceman’ reeled off 13 and 14-dart legs midway through the contest to extend his advantage to 4-2 at the WIN Entertainment centre.

World No. 6 Price was clinical on the outering as he pearled in tops for the victory and hit 60 percent of his doubles in the contest.

Price returns to action on Saturday and will face Chris Dobey in the quarter-finals Down Under.
