PRICE WITHDRAWS FROM PROTOUR EVENTS WITH HAND INJURY

GERWYN PRICE was forced out of Players Championship 24 after suffering a shock hand injury.
‘The Iceman’ shared a photo on Instagram showing his right hand looking badly swollen in hospital.
Former World Champ Price fractured the same hand back in 2022, forcing him out of a Premier League night, although he somehow still won a ProTour title while injured.
This latest blow comes at the worst possible time, with the Flanders Darts Trophy, Czech Darts Open and World Series Finals all looming over the next few weeks.
Markham thrower Price wrote on social media: “Just what I didn’t want, back to the hospital it is.”
While Price did not confirm what the issue is, the 40-year-old does have history of having hand injuries.
Instead, all eyes turned to Jeffrey de Graaf, who made history by clinching his first ever PDC senior crown at Milton Keynes.
World No. 52 De Graaf edged Stephen Bunting 8-7 in the final to become the first player from Sweden to win a ProTour title — in one of the strongest fields of the year, with Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen both back in action.
Seven-times major winner Price had been in red-hot form heading into a stacked schedule, making his sudden withdrawal even more frustrating.
Price has won the Baltic Sea Open, a trio of Players Championship events and the Poland Darts Masters to cap off a brilliant year.
