Ritchie Edhouse declared his first TV title win in Dortmund a “dream come true” after winning the PDC European Championship in Dortmund.
The Englishman thrashed Jermaine Wattimena 11-3 in the final to secure his first PDC TV title. He has now entered the world’s top 32 ranked players after earning the biggest payday of his career of £120,000.
Going into the tournament, Edhouse was a 250-1 outsider to win the competition and secured wins over Gian van Veen, Michael Smith, Gary Anderson and Luke Woodhouse before conquering Wattimena in the final.
“This is unbelievable,” said a shocked Edhouse.
“It will take a day or two to sink in. I mean, it’s not every day you be a major winner. I’ve not even won a tournament on the ProTour, let alone win a major.
“I just wanted to get a couple of wins under my belt and see what happened, so this is a dream come true.
“The missus kicks my butt all the time. “I think this could be a stepping stone for me because confidence breeds confidence, and now I am really confident and hungry for more!”
“It’s a busy time and the confidence will be up so we’ll see what happens.

Edhouse is the newest winner to enter the PDC TV title enclosure in a tournament that brought up multiple surprises.
After Mike De Decker’s World Grand Prix success in Leicester earlier this month, it is the first time that ranking TV wins went to players outside the top 32.
