ROCK FAR TOO GOOD TO BE WRITTEN OFF

JOSH ROCK is “far too good” to be written off after just two weeks of Premier League action.

‘Rocky’ is yet to get off the mark and endured a bruising 6-2 defeat to Michael van Gerwen last time out after managing just a 79.34 average.

World No.9 Rock has come under scrutiny, with critics questioning whether he warrants his place in the line-up.

But former pro Matt Edgar has rubbished talk of the Antrim star being out of his depth and believes he will be right in the hunt for Finals Night.

He told OLBG: “One I really want to go against right now is that Josh Rock is not good enough for the Premier League.

“It’s two weeks in and he was poor. There is no other way around it — he was poor and wasn’t up to the standard last night.

“Is he not up to the standard over 16 weeks? Of course he is going to be.

“That is not Josh Rock. He is far too good. People say, is he out of his depth?

“No. He had a significant drop in performance. He has beaten these players on a regular basis.

“Is it going to take him a bit of time to find his feet? Yes, it looks like the answer to that is surprisingly yes.

“But do I think he does? I do. I still think he will be challenging for the top four.”

Rock competed at Players Championship Three on Monday but was eliminated in the second round after a defeat to Jim Long.

He returns to Premier League action in Glasgow on Thursday night for a huge showdown against Luke Humphries.
