SCHINDLER RAISES CONCERNS WITH DISMAL DISPLAY

MARTIN SCHINDLER has sparked fears over his form after a POOR display at Players Championship One.

World No.15 Schindler recorded a career-low average of 65.57 as he was whitewashed 6-0 by Maik Kuivenhoven in the first round at Hildesheim.

‘The Wall’ struggled from his opening visit, repeatedly drifting into the fives and failing to apply any pressure, allowing Kuivenhoven to dominate throughout.

PDC commentator Abi Davies did not hold back as Schindler’s woes continued throughout the one-sided contest.

She said: “He is constantly drifting into the fives. Such has been Martin Schindler’s start in this one — three darts going straight is a positive for him.

“Schindler hasn’t had much to look at in this match because of his poor scoring. Poor is putting it pretty lightly in this one.

“There is no pressure at all. It would be interesting to know how Martin Schindler was performing when he was warming up for this game.

“Whether it was a complete shock and surprise to us, as it was to him.

“Or whether things didn’t feel right on the practice board.

“The lowest average we have ever seen from Martin Schindler in a Players Championship event.

“So, so poor in that one.”

Schindler’s previous lowest average at a Players Championship event was 78, recorded in 2023 against Danny van Trijp.

The German had an impressive 2025 campaign, winning the Austrian Darts Open and Players Championship Eight.
