SHERROCK ‘SHOCKED’ BY ENGLAND CALL FOR MODUS PAIRS

FALLON SHERROCK admits she was “shocked” to be called up to represent England with Steve Beaton in the Modus International Pairs.

‘The Queen of the Palace’ will play alongside the former Lakeside champion on April 20 as they bid to lift silverware for the Three Lions.

The duo will face 11 other nations, with Ally Pally hero David Munyua also back in action as he teams up with Peter Wachiuri to represent Kenya.

Sherrock is thrilled to be teaming up with Beaton and believes the pair will have strong chemistry in the tournament.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to it, especially to play with Steve.

“He’s such an icon. He’s such like an asset to Darts as it is, and to have the privilege to play with him, I can’t wait.

“So, I only know him seeing him at exhibitions and then we’ll have a laugh.

“Obviously I had the privilege of playing with him at the Worlds, and obviously he beat me at the Worlds, so I know the calibre of player he is.

“I’m a bit shocked that I got asked, but you never know. Maybe I’ll just turn up on that day, but yeah, no, I’m quite proud of being representative of England.”

Sherrock knows she will need to adjust to the format and longer waits between throws but insists she and Beaton can win the event.

She added: “Probably just the waiting time. I think I’m just going to have to get used to playing pairs again because I think it’s been a while since I’ve played pairs.

“I’m used to just playing singles, but I’m just going to go enjoy myself and hopefully my game can shine through and not let him down.

“Oh, we’re going to win it. Me and Steve are going to win it. I’m just putting it out there right now. I’d love to bring it home.”

Two-time world champion Adrian Lewis partnered Beaton for England last year but they finished fourth in Group B with four wins and four losses, just missing out on qualification.
