VAN GERWEN MAY MISS PREMIER LEAGUE IN GLASGOW

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN could MISS the Premier League in Glasgow due to a health problem.
‘Mighty Mike’ sits top of the table after winning the opening night and finishing runner-up last week in Antwerp.
But the Dutchman may be a doubt to feature in the major tournament ahead of a clash with Luke Littler on Thursday evening.
Former pro Vincent van der Voort has revealed concerns over Van Gerwen’s current condition.
He said on the Darts Draait Door podcast: “Unfortunately, we still don’t know for sure if Michael will play.
“He’s picked something up and is on antibiotics. I can’t say yet that he’ll be there. We’ll have to wait and see over the coming days.
“Tests are being done, and I hope they find it quickly so it can be resolved. There’s a chance he won’t be there.
“Everything is uncertain for now. Every time you think it’s turning the right way, something happens again.”
World No.4 Van Gerwen has been in great form after reaching a semi-final on the ProTour this season and picking up the Bahrain Masters crown.
After liaising with Van Gerwen’s management, The Professional Darts Corporation have released this statement: “Michael has a medical issue and is awaiting results of tests which will determine whether he can travel to Glasgow.”
If Van Gerwen is ruled out, Littler will get a bye into the semi-finals.
