WILLIAMS OFFERS RIVAL “OUTSIDE” AFTER GAMESMANSHIP CLAIM

SCOTT WILLIAMS has revealed he offered to take a rival “outside” after being accused of gamesmanship.

‘Shaggy’ was left fuming during a recent Masters qualifier when his opponent claimed he was tapping his foot to distract him at the oche.

World No.44 Williams was adamant he has never tried to gain an edge through mind games and sticks rigidly to the same approach every time he toes the line.

Williams insists the accusation was completely baseless and says he made his feelings clear.

He told the Happy Hour Podcast: “The other week I played someone in the Masters qualifier and he accused me of tapping my foot so I offered him outside.

“I won the game and I put it in his face. But I am stood there and I have never done anything.

“I would never do anything. I literally have the same routine — I get my darts, I walk and I stand. That is it.”

Williams was then asked how distracting those little noises can be with a large crowd.

He added: “The crowd being so loud it is just like one big white noise.

“Whereas if it is dead quiet other than a bit of chatter here and there.

“If you hear a tap or a clink or a noise and then all of a sudden that starts to become more regular.

“I’ll go this f***** is trying to have me on here. It doesn’t happen very often.”

Williams explains that whistles from spectators can be difficult to deal with when playing in an arena.

He continued: “They can be. I have had a few when I go to Germany, really just because of the World War comments.

“I get heckled and I can get on with it. It’s just that sometimes, for some of the other players, they can’t push through it.”
