PETER WRIGHT has gotten rid of all his trophies in a bid to reset his career.
‘Snakebite’ is taking inspiration from Luke Littler and Luke Humphries as he aims to capture another World title.
Last year marked the first time since 2018 that Wright failed to win a Major title. The 54-year-old endured a tough 2024 finishing bottom of the Premier League.
Wright has now pledged to completely clear out his trophies in a bid to start afresh and has praised Littler and Humphries as his sources of inspiration.
The former two-time World Champion told the PDC: “I watched the World Championship after I got knocked out. Luke Littler and Luke Humphries inspired me with what they did.
“Especially Luke Humphries with what he’s won over the last four months. It proves what you can do and achieve if you put the hard work in.
“Luke Littler is the best thing I’ve ever seen on TV! That’s why he has inspired me to get my finger out.”
He continued: “I have got rid of all my trophies, got rid of all my darts, so I can start afresh.
“I want new trophies this year. Last year was terrible and the year before that was terrible. But I’m looking forward to playing this year.
“I took time off last year and it didn’t work, we saw that in the Premier League. This year I am hitting everything again.”
Despite a enduring a challenging 2024, Wright claimed one Euro Tour title, winning the German Darts Championship late in the season.
He also delivered an impressive run at the 2025 World Darts Championship, reaching the quarter-finals. Along the way, he convincingly defeated World number one Luke Humphries in the fourth round, averaging over a ton and securing a 4-1 victory.
The Scot is a ten-time Major winner and has earned nearly £6million in Prize money throughout his career.
Wright is a darting legend and wants more trophies in 2025 to further cement his legacy.
He added: “Fingers crossed my mindset is to use one set of darts.
“If I can manage that all year, I’ll be happy and I will be a big threat to everyone.”
World number 12 Wright returns to action this Friday at the Winmau World Masters as he gears up to face a qualifier.
