HUMPHRIES VOWS TO FIGHT BACK IN PREMIER LEAGUE

06/04/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

LUKE HUMPHRIES has insisted he will “give it my all” to turn his Premier League campaign around.

The defending champion is still searching for his first nightly win after nine weeks and currently sits sixth in the table.

‘Cool Hand’ suffered another blow in Manchester, crashing to a 6-2 defeat against Gerwyn Price in the quarter-finals.

But Humphries remains determined to fight his way back into the play-off spots.

He said: “I’ve got to give it my all and make sure I am winning more than one game.

“I need to win a few nights and hopefully I can. Get myself in the top four — I don’t care where I finish as long as I am in there somewhere.

“I just know this is the nature of the game, sometimes it is hard to win.

“The last two years I have started off really well and this year I haven’t.

“So, I guess I have to find that second nature in myself to come back better.

“Starting off is all well and good because you can coast to the finish line.

“Whereas when you have to fight for it, it makes it harder. I relish that chance to go and do it.”

By week ten in 2024, Humphries had won three nights, followed by two in last season, but this year he is still yet to get off the mark.

The Cheshire thrower had also climbed to second place by this stage in each of the last two years of the major tournament.

Humphries returns to Premier League action this Thursday and will face Jonny Clayton on Night 10 in Brighton.
