DARTS ACE ADMITS TAYLOR WOULD TOPPLE LITTLER IN RANKINGS

31/05/2025 By Aaron Nijjar

LEGEND Dennis Priestley believes a prime Phil Taylor would top the rankings in the modern era above Luke Littler.

Former world champion Priestley also placed Luke Humphries above the teen sensation in the hypothetical order of merit.

Warrington whizkid Littler achieved SIX nightly triumphs in the Premier League this year and broke the record points tally in a campaign.

‘The Nuke’ also won the World Championship alongside the UK Open in 2025 and now boasts five major accolades at just 18-years-old.

But Priestley isn’t convinced that Littler is on course to be the best of all time.

He told OLBG: “I think Phil Taylor in his prime was more consistent than even Luke Humphries and Luke Littler are at the moment.

“Phil’s records tell us the whole story and he was so good that it was hard for anyone to get close to him.

“I think if you put a prime Phil Taylor into the current game he would be world No. 1 with Humphries in second and Littler in third.”

‘The Power’ arguably has the greatest streak in darts by winning 16 World Matchplay titles from 17 finals.

87-time major winner Taylor’s success at the Winter Gardens spanned 24 appearances from 1994 until his victorious Blackpool farewell in 2017 aged 56.

The greatest marksman of all time also claimed 16 World Championships and 11 World Grand Prix trophies.
