JORDAN: THERE SHOULD BE NO MENZIES “POST-MORTEM”

SIMON JORDAN says pundits should BACK OFF Cameron Menzies and there shouldn’t be a big post mortem into his on stage behaviour.
The Ayrshire ace has been the subject of much debate following his table punching outburst on Monday afternoon at the Ally Pally.
His actions have become a social media hit with many mocking his actions. Fellow player Damon Heta had a playful dig online while Scott Williams jokingly checked the table before his game on Tuesday.
Now Jordan has given his opinion on talkSPORT, saying: “He’s struggling with losing isn’t he. That’s the issue. His issue is exasperation and inability to control emotions on the back of a loss.
“We’ve seen sportsmen behave like this for years. Ilie Năstase back in the 70s constantly berating everyone and everything, John McEnroe, we go on and on.
“Look there’s a way of behaving and he will know and so will the game itself. They want players to behave in a certain way.
“This is a sport that has a curious relationship with the public now. It’s now being used as an aspirational sport. Whereas once upon a time it was a sport for the slothful. It was debated whether it was even a sport.
“I happen to love darts. I think it’s a great game.
“But I don’t think there needs to be a whole post-mortem of what he has and hasn’t done.
“Clearly he doesn’t like losing and he can’t contain himself.
“Everyone walking around in this world will have a back story as to why they are unhappy about something, why they are feeling anxious or what’s happened in their life.
“It’s about how you carry that into what you are doing. Sport amplifies. It creates a public domain, it gives people a sense of ‘ooh we need to worry about that person’ because they happen to be in the public domain.
“Everybody that is suffering from a challenge whether it’s a tragedy in their life or a loss of something or whatever it is, is worthy of other people’s respect.
“My balance is always about not wanting to form a sort of jurassic thinking about resilience but it is resilience that gets you through.”
