GARY ANDERSON has tipped Connor Scutt and Adam Lipscombe to be future stars.

‘The Flying Scotsman’ won the seventh Players Championship event of the year on Monday.

Former World champion Anderson was handed a tricky first round tie against Scutt but came through as the winner 6-2.

After his seven-match winning run, Anderson heaped praise on Scutt.

He said: “I rate Connor highly and I am a big fan of him.

“He is a little cheeky bugger. But he puts the work in.

“He was not quite on it first game today, but first games are always a nightmare.

“He is going to be one to watch.”

World No. 60 Scutt caught the eye at the ‘Fa Cup of Darts’ last month, beating Berry van Peer and Gerwyn Price before a fifth-round exit.

The Carshalton thrower averaged 99.62 and hit a sublime 121 checkout to beat ‘The Iceman’ 10-9.

‘Sniper’ reached a ProTour final last year and made the quarter-finals of the Players Championship Finals.

Eight-time major winner Anderson also applauded Lipscombe who finished runner up at the Players Championship Seven.

Lipscombe – a surprise package at Qualifying School in January – took the scalps of Damon Heta, Dirk van Duijvenbode and William O’Connor in a sensational run to the final.

‘Baby Boy’ also beat former top-10 player Ian White to reach the fourth round of the UK Open.

Anderson said: “I watched him in the UK Open and I had great pleasure watching him.

“He is going to be something else.

“It is a long day and he needs to get used to that because this is what it is like.

“But I expected him to get used to that. I expect him to do well. He is going to put a hole in the rankings.”
