NATHAN ASPINALL has told darts fans to stop whistling in the arena at Riese after beating Gerwyn Price 6-5 in the International Darts Open.
‘The Asp’ averaged 103 and sealed the match with a superb 121 checkout while Price was waiting on double 20.
Two-time major winner Aspinall climbed back off the canvas from 5-2 down to reel off four consecutive legs and win the bout to enter the quarter-final.
Former World champion Price averaged a stellar 105 and threw five 180s in defeat.
Following his victory, Aspinall voiced his frustration at the disruptive whistles coming from sections of the crowd during the contest.
He said: “All I want to say is the whistling affects us players.
“Chant or cheer, do what you want, but stop whistling regardless of whoever is playing, whether you like them or not.
“You pay your money to watch good darts and you’re preventing that from happening.
“It annoys us as players. The five or six people in the crowd — you know who you are — just stop being idiots.
“Then everyone will have a laugh and have a beer to just enjoy some good darts.”
World No. 8 Aspinall is in great form picking up his first European Tour title last month at Göttingen.
He has reached the quarter-final of the World Championship, World Masters and UK Open this year.
The Stockport ace currently sits sixth in the Premier League but is only two points off the play-off spots.
Aspinall will face Rob Cross on Night Ten of the Premier League in Manchester.
