BUNTING BLASTS PERFORMANCE IN POLAND
05/07/2025 By Aaron Nijjar
STEPHEN BUNTING admits he was “really disappointed” with his performance despite staying in the hunt for a THIRD World Series title this year.
‘The Bullet’ eased past Tytus Kanik 6-3 in Gliwice on Friday night, landing 50 per cent of his doubles but averaging just 87.57 in a patchy display.
World No. 4 Bunting will now face Krzysztof Ratajski in the quarter-final of the Poland Masters.
Former Masters champ Bunting knows he’ll need to sharpen up when he faces the home favourite in the PreZone Arena.
He said: “I must improve rapidly.
“I will have an early night tonight and make sure I am ready for tomorrow.
“The crowd were good, they were supporting the home-grown player which I fully expect.
“But I didn’t give them much to cheer for me to be fair. I’m really disappointed there with my performance tonight.
“However, I have to take positives, and I won. So on to tomorrow — I need to make sure I am better.”
The Liverpudlian has already picked up Players Championship 18 and the International Darts Open crown in a standout 2025 campaign.
He added: “It’s very important to win any event. Obviously winning events gives confidence which then gives you tournament wins.
“So, to keep the momentum rolling so to say and keep picking up the wins.
“But there is not much confidence I take from a performance like that.
“I know I am a lot better than that. But in the same context I got the win.
“If I had lost that game you would not have seen me for a few weeks — I would have been hiding.
“Even though the performance was not there tonight I’m sure I will bring it tomorrow.
“I want to be in the Premier League next year and playing in all of the World Series next year.
“So, I need to make sure I keep up my levels to be in them. Tonight was a bit of a blip but I won so I’m so happy.”
