BUNTING GOT STUCK ON ROLLERCOASTER

STEPHEN BUNTING once got stuck on a rollercoaster and needed “a team of people” to help remove him.
The story emerged during commentary as Ricky Evans cruised to a comfortable 6-1 win over Teemu Harju in round one of the Baltic Sea Open.
Dan Dawson and Matt Edgar were discussing Evans’ love of funfairs when the bizarre tale about Bunting was revealed on the live broadcast.
Former pro Edgar said: “He does in fact like a funfair does Ricky Evans.
“Remember in Barnsley when they used to have a funfair outside and him and Stephen Bunting would go over to try and win a teddy.”
Dawson then recalled a memorable trip involving the pair during a Euro Tour event in Denmark.
He added: “I believe they went off when they had the Euro Tour back in Copenhagen, they went to Tivoli Gardens together and Stephen Bunting got stuck in the seat on a rollercoaster.
“He had to be sort of not winched out but I think it took a team of people to remove him.”
Rapid Ricky will face Daryl Gurney in Kiel as he bids to reach the third round of a ProTour event for the first time this season after a difficult start to the campaign.
World No.9 Bunting will meanwhile take on Cameron Menzies as he continues his hunt for a first title of the year.
Menzies produced the performance of the day on Friday, averaging a stunning 108.41 to defeat Rob Cross 6-4 in the last 48.
The colourful Scot then celebrated in style by lifting Master of Ceremonies Phillip Brzenski off the ground during his post-match interview.
