CHISNALL FACING BIGGEST SLUMP OF HIS CAREER

25/09/2025 By Aaron Nijjar

DAVE CHISNALL is at risk of MISSING the European Championship after a nightmare run of form on the oche.

‘Chizzy’ is an eight-time Euro Tour winner and has long been one of the most feared players on that stage.

But the 45-year-old has slipped to 31st on the European Championship Order of Merit and is just £1,500 clear of the cut-off.

World No. 16 Chisnall’s last outing resulted in a 6-1 thumping to Raymond van Barneveld at the Hungarian Darts Trophy on Saturday.

That defeat stretched his run to SEVEN Euro Tour events without a single win, and it is the longest losing streak of his career on the circuit.

Chisnall’s fate now rests on the last two Euro Tour stops in Basel and Hildesheim.

He risks not qualifying for the European Championship for only the second time in his career – the last was in 2021 after featuring every year since his 2011 debut.

St Helens ace Chisnall hasn’t fared any better in the majors after a second-round Ally Pally defeat to Ricky Evans killed off his Premier League hopes.

Chisnall then slipped out of the top five in the Order of Merit, with rival Stephen Bunting leapfrogging him.

And opening round exits at the World Masters and World Matchplay only deepened the slump.

As things stand, Chisnall will return to the World Championships as the number 17 seed, and that is before all the big upcoming TV events have been played.

Six-times major finalist Chisnall is on course for a trophyless season for the first time since 2021.

However, Chisnall has shown glimpses of brilliance this year as he reached the final of the Players Championship 15 in Hildesheim before falling 8-4 to Kryzsztof Ratajski in the final.
