DOETS TARGETS EXTRA GEAR IN BID FOR FIRST EURO TOUR TITLE

KEVIN DOETS insists he must find an “extra gear” if he is to land a maiden European Tour crown.

The Dutch ace continued his superb run of form with a convincing 6-2 victory over Ryan Joyce, averaging 94.66 to advance into the quarter-final of the Austrian Darts Open.

‘Doots’ has enjoyed a breakthrough year on the ProTour, winning his maiden ranking PDC title at Players Championship 13 earlier this week.

The world No.35 also made the semi-final of the German Darts Grand Prix last month as he continues his steady rise.

But Doets believes he will have to raise his game if he is to break new ground in Graz.

He said: “This is my second time in the final session, but now I have some time, so I am going to go back to the hotel now, rest a little bit, then come back in an hour and a half.

“What I have played this weekend has been good enough so far. But it won’t be enough to win the whole thing.

“I am going to have to find that extra gear that I know I can do, and I can find it. I am just going to have to do it.”

Doets will face Luke Woodhouse for a spot in the semi-final at the Stadthalle Graz.
