MENZIES REVEALS ANDERSON WILL LOCK HIS BEDROOM DOOR BEFORE WORLD CUP CLASH

CAMERON MENZIES has revealed Gary Anderson will put a LOCK on his bedroom door to stop him staying up for Scotland’s World Cup showdown with Haiti.
Cammy is set for his World Cup of Darts debut in Frankfurt this Saturday and admits his partner Anderson is already making sure he stays disciplined away from the oche.
The world No29 will replace legendary two-time world champ Peter Wright after leapfrogging him in the order of merit.
Menzies had originally planned to watch Scotland’s 2am Sunday clash with Haiti after buying tickets, but his call-up changed everything.
He said: “I think Gary will tell me to go to bed and put a lock on my door so I can’t get out!
“He knows what I am like. What I will try and do is watch it on my phone because I actually got tickets to go to Glasgow and watch it.
“But this was before I knew I was going to be in this because I didn’t know if I would make it.
“That has all gone Pete Tong. I will try and watch it but in a place like this I need my beauty sleep.”
Menzies is relishing the chance to represent his country alongside his darting idol and believes they can challenge for the title.
He added: “I’m definitely looking forward to it. The four players that have played for Scotland before me are all legends of the game in Scotland.
“So hopefully one day I can put my name in the same breath as them.
“This is a good start for it. Hopefully I can come here and do well. I spoke to Gary at the table last week at the ProTours and he told me to behave and have a quiet night before.
“If you said to me the perfect player to play with, it would be Gary because he is my hero. It is an honour to play this with him.
“Hopefully I don’t let him down. I feel like if Gary plays the way he usually does and I find my A-game, we will be hard to beat.
“We are both big scorers and I feel like if we are clinical on the doubles, we could be a team that goes on a run, I believe.
“If I get too emotional or too hyper, Gary will give me a clip round the ear and tell me to calm down!”
Menzies has become one of the most eccentric characters in the sport thanks to his antics on stage.
The Ayrshire thrower famously punched a table after his first-round World Championship defeat to Charlie Manby last December, damaging his hand in the process.
Menzies admits his struggles became so severe that he began looking for work away from the bright lights.
He continued: “It’s just because I wasn’t playing well. I even started my CV again, that’s how bad it was.
“I had CVs out there anyway, but I put a few out and got two or three phone calls for jobs.
“My old supervisor that I used to work for even offered me a job. If I wanted to, he would give me my job back, no problem.
“There have been options for that, but the last two or three months have been progress.
“It was starting to get me down but now I am mentally good.”
