LUKE HUMPHRIES admitted it was “a difficult night” in Glasgow.
The World No.1 lost out to rival Luke Littler in a deciding leg of the Premier League night two final at the OVO Hydro on Thursday night.
‘Cool Hand’, 30, remains three points clear at the table after reaching both finals so far and took the opening night victory in Belfast.
But he revealed that it had been a troublesome event after cutting his finger and was involved in both matches affected by fans whistling.
He said: “A difficult night all round, and I just fell short in the end.
“An unexpected finger injury didn’t help either. Fair play to Luke Littler and I’ll be back next week to do it all again in Dublin.”
When asked about how he injured his finger on his right hand, he added: “Pulled my darts out the practice board and cut it on the wires. Then it just wouldn’t stop bleeding haha.”
Humphries laughed at semi-final opponent Gerwyn Price when he reacted to the fans trying to put them off by wolf-whistling back at them.
Then in the final both him and Littler were distracted by the constant whistling which ended up with referee Kirk Bevins telling fans to stop.
Littler admitted after the match that the ref’s actions ended up affecting his rhythm and he lost the leg to rail 5-4. But the teen sensation responded with style to win the next two and win the night.
