LITTLER FEARS DOUBLE START WORLD GRAND PRIX
06/10/2025 By Aaron Nijjar
LUKE LITTLER admits he didn’t like the World Grand Prix last year as he looks to add the title to his growing collection this week.
‘The Nuke’ was knocked out in the first-round last year after a 2-1 defeat to Rob Cross in Leicester.
World No.2 Littler begins his campaign against Gian van Veen at the Mattioli Arena on Tuesday, having been beaten in their last THREE meetings.
Littler says he’s not a fan of the double-in, double-out format, calling it one of the toughest tournaments to win.
He said: “Obviously it’s the next big one for me. But I’ll be honest, I didn’t like it last time.
“I didn’t like the double start. It’s one of the toughest tournaments to win.
“There is the World Championship, the Matchplay, the Premier League. But the double start – if you don’t get off, then you’re in trouble!
“I can’t say I really practice the double start often but obviously leading up to it, I think I’ll have to – just to get used to it.
“Every year we’ll see someone hit a treble 20 first out and then they forget.
“It’ll be tough. But we’ve still got plenty of darts to play this year.”
Warrington ace Littler became the youngest ‘Triple Crown’ winner earlier this year in July at just 18-year-old.
Littler claimed the Premier League, World Championship and the Matchplay within the space of 15 months and became just the FIFTH player to do so.
The teen sensation is now aiming to win his seventh PDC premier title since bursting onto the scene at Ally Pally a couple of years ago.
