LITTLER NOT SCARED OF ANYONE

LUKE LITTLER admits he is not “scared of anyone” and hopes England can develop that same fear factor on the world stage.

The teenage sensation believes opponents are often beaten before they even step on stage with him due to his growing reputation.

World No.1 Littler sits top of the Premier League and is two points ahead of Jonny Clayton after picking up a third nightly victory last week in Berlin.

‘The Nuke’ pointed to his Night Seven success in Dublin, where he overturned a 5-0 deficit to beat Gerwyn Price 6-5, as proof he is never out of a match.

He said: “I’m never out of a game and against Gezzy that’s shown it.

“I was 5-0 down and going on to win. I even said to myself on stage, in my head, when I made it 5-3, I said to myself I have got him because he started dropping below the treble.

“He was trying to move on the oche and fight for the trebles, missing doubles. I don’t think I am really scared of anyone.

“I am just up there doing my job. Sometimes I have got that 1-0 or 2-0 lead before I go on stage because that is how players think in their head.

“They are beat before they play me but most of the time you see players have 110 averages against me, maybe not that high, maybe a bit lower.

“Then they are going to beat me. Some players, when they play me, it is their final whether it is round one or round two. That is their cup final.”

Littler also paid a surprise visit to St George’s Park last Tuesday ahead of England’s friendly double-header with Uruguay and Japan at Wembley.

But the Three Lions failed to win either game, drawing with Uruguay before slipping to a 1-0 defeat against Japan.

Despite that, Littler believes England can still deliver when it matters most and backed them to perform on the World Cup stage later this year.

He added: “Hopefully they do start winning. Next one is the World Cup. I don’t think friendlies mean much, obviously they play just to keep fit.

“They will go back to the club and hopefully play well. But we still have a good chance in the World Cup.”
