SCHINDLER BLASTS INTERNET ‘IDIOTS’ AFTER SILENCING CRITICS

MARTIN SCHINDLER hit out at the “idiots” on the internet after Germany defied the odds to reach the World Cup quarter-finals.
The Wall and Ricardo Pietreczko were tipped by many to crash out in the group stage after both endured difficult seasons heading into the tournament.
World No19 Schindler failed to reach a Euro Tour semi-final or lift a ProTour title this year, while Pietreczko’s form has nosedived amid his struggles with dartitis and a run of disappointing Players Championship results.
But the pair proved their critics wrong with a superb run in Frankfurt before eventually falling 8-4 to the Netherlands in the last eight.
Schindler admitted there was extra satisfaction in silencing those who had written him off.
He said: “I always feel that there is still more in there because in doubles format you only throw half the darts, maybe you do not see everything in the statistics.
“But I know what I can do.
“Above all, I am glad that I can show all the idiots on the internet that even when people think you are in a weak phase, you can still reach the quarter-finals of a World Cup.
“I have mentioned my mental coach often, and not without reason.
“Without him, it would probably have been much harder to stand here and play my darts.
“I simply have an enormous fighting spirit.
“I do not want to give up. That is inside me. Darts is my life. Without darts, I would not know what to do.”
Schindler returns to action on Tuesday at Players Championship 21 in Wigan.
