LITTLER WINS SIXTH PREMIER LEAGUE NIGHT!

LUKE LITTLER sent out a chilling warning to his rivals with a record SIXTH Premier League night win.

The World Champion delivered a stunning 6-3 victory over Luke Humphries in the final in Sheffield.

It was the perfect warm-up for the play-off finals for the Nuke as he defends his Premier League title next week.

He smashed in outstanding 155 and 170 finishes to leave his biggest adversary floundering.

Littler also finished top of the table, smashing his own PL points record with a final total of 45, five ahead of his previous best.

Littler, 18, said: “It’s been tough, it’s a tough format but I’ve got myself through as three other players have.

“But I’m very happy to be top again and break all these records again.

“Last year it worked a treat being in the first semi-final. I went on to pick up the trophy. That’s all I’m thinking about this year.

“I’m ready for the semi-final. It’s the O2, I’ve been there before and won it.”

Littler will face his bogey player Gerwyn Price in next week’s semi with Humphries taking on Nathan Aspinall.

NATHAN ASPINALL was close to tears after defying the haters to reach the Premier League play-offs.

The World No.8 dumped Michael van Gerwen 6-2 to book his place at the O2 next week.

In the winner-takes-all clash, Aspinall smashed his Dutch hero with clinical 124 and 113 finishes.

For MVG, the most successful PL player with seven titles, it’s only the second time in 13 years that he has failed to make the top four.

Aspinall was the victim of social media abuse when he was given a pick for the Premier League at the start of the year. But he said: “A lot of emotion as soon as I walked off the stage. I had to take myself away on my own for a minute.

“I knew I was pretty much 80 per cent of the way there. But I’ve spoken so highly of Michael, I know he could have won tonight. I don’t know what’s going on, but he didn’t look himself. Even on the stage he was giving up.

“But I thought I put a fantastic performance in under that pressure. I’m just so proud of myself. It’s been a very stressful six weeks.”

Luke Littler smashed Stephen Bunting 6-1 in the quarter-finals with a 114.37 average, with a 100 per cent checkout record.
