GERWYN PRICE secured victory at the second Players Championship event in Wigan with an 8-7 win over Chris Dobey.

‘Hollywood’ led the match 6-3 but Price rallied back and held his nerve in the deciding leg to win the second ProTour event of the season.

‘The Iceman’ is now fifth on the all-time list of Players Championship titles won with 18. Price also extended his win streak on the floor over Dobey to six.

On his way to the final Price dumped out World Champion Luke Littler in the quarters, averaging 102 in a 6-5 narrow win.

World No.8 Price then closed out a 7-5 victory over Ryan Searle in the semis with a 99.2 average and an impressive 63 percentage finishing on the doubles.

The Welshman has recently started working with a sports psychologist and credits that for his recent success on tour.

Price said: “Sometimes I just gave up, rolled over and had my belly tickled, but my mentality and the way I think has changed.

“Especially against Luke [Littler] today he took out a 167 and I should have been 3-0 up and then he’s 5-4 up. I’m thinking just stick in there. I knew I was scoring well against him and I would get opportunities and I came through that game.

“Obviously same with Ryan [Searle] and Chris [Dobey] I think he scored a lot better than me up there. I’m just glad to get through it.”

He added: “I did get a little bit of help with sports psychology before the World Championship which really helped. Now I’m getting back to my best. There’s a lot more positivity in my game and it seems to be working.”
