PHIL TAYLOR has warned that Luke Littler could burn out before reaching his true potential.
16-time world champion Taylor admits the teen sensation is still years off reaching his best and risks being pulled “from pillar to post” if he’s not protected.
‘The Nuke’s’ rise on the scene has included Premier League, Grand Slam and World Series titles in 2024, followed by the 2025 World Darts Championship and the 2025 UK Open.
But Taylor fears the global attention could wear Littler down.
He said: “When he reaches his peak — because he hasn’t — he will be about 27 or 28.
“If he is still enthusiastic. If he is still practicing and is not burnt out.
“That’s the one thing — you have to protect him a little bit.
“Because he will get pulled from pillar to post.”
The greatest marksman of all time believes Littler’s demeanor at the oche will change when he is at the peak of his powers.
He added: “He will wisen up and become more calm.
“He will become a bit more older-headed and more experienced.
“It’s all new yet.”
‘The Power’ banked over £7.5MILLION in prize money from his stellar career.
Stoke-on-Trent thrower Taylor says he was never satisfied and urged Littler to adopt a similar mindset.
He revealed: “His form will go up and down.
“Mine did so you have to work out ways of pushing yourself back up there by changing things or doing something different which I was always doing.
“I was never happy with what I had got.
“Even if I won the worlds I wanted something better next time.
“That’s the way I played the game.”
