PHIL TAYLOR has shared valuable financial advice with Luke Littler as both his wallet and trophy cabinet continue to grow.
The ‘Nuke’ has had a remarkable year, earning over £1MILLION in prize money over the past 12 months. Littler won the Premier League last year and secured his first-ever World title in January, a victory that brought him £500,000.
One man who knows how to manage his money is the legendary Taylor. ‘The Power’ claimed 16 World Championships in a glittering career and amassed an estimated £8.5 million in earnings from darts.
Taylor has now offered the 18-year-old some valuable advice, suggesting he open two bank accounts to better manage his finances. Speaking to Sport Bible, he said: “Straight away – keep off social media. Don’t bother with it. Let somebody else do it for you. You don’t need to read things because it can upset.
“Make sure you look after your money. Two bank accounts – one in one, and half in another. So that’s your tax. That’s what I always used to do.
“Try to start investing your money, so if anything happens, if you fall down and break your arm or something, you’ve got something to fall back on.”
World No.2 Littler has already given a few clues about what he intends to spend his money on. After his Ally Pally success he had his eyes on a glitzy purchase.
He said: “I’ve always loved a Mercedes A-Class – just a small car. Last year, I was looking at driving, and I loved the Ford Focus, but now I’ve gone up in the world just a little!
“I haven’t had driving lessons yet because it’s been so hectic, but I’m going to have to do it before I get into my twenties when it’ll be too late and I can’t be bothered. If I get a car, it won’t be a birthday present from anyone. I think it would have to be a birthday present from me to me.”
The teen sensation also revealed he bought himself a ‘nice bag’ after winning both the Players Championship 20 title and World Series of Darts in Amsterdam last year.
Littler heads into next week’s Premier League action on the back of winning night two, where he edged out World No.1 Luke Humphries 6-5 in the final. The Warrington thrower has averaged over 100 in all his matches within the tournament this year and will face Gerwyn Price next on Thursday in Dublin.
