TAYLOR REVEALS SECRET TO STOPPING LITTLER
29/08/2025 By Aaron Nijjar
PHIL TAYLOR has outlined what he believes is the key to stopping Luke Littler.
World No. 2 Littler is the current world champion and has won SIX major honours since his stunning breakthrough two years ago at Ally Pally.
Warrington whizkid Littler is the youngest player to ever claim the triple crown as he won the Premier League, World Matchplay and Sid Waddell Trophy at just 18-years-old.
But Taylor, widely regarded as the greatest of all time, insisted that Littler’s rivals must “slow the game down” if they want to defeat him.
He said: “Yeah, a lot of that [throwing the darts quickly] comes because youngsters practise on their own.
“So, they don’t have that person slowing them down.
“I used to try and practise with somebody if I could to keep me in that rhythm of playing.
“So, that is why a lot when a player plays a younger player [like Littler], they start slowing them down to put them off because they are not used to it.
“Anybody who plays Luke Littler will slow their throw down.”
‘The Nuke’ will be back in action at the Flanders Darts Trophy in Antwerp which begins today.
Littler takes on Dylan Slevin in round two on Saturday in the evening session.
