MICHAEL VAN GERWEN revealed he has never sipped BEER in his life.
‘Mighty Mike’ joined fellow pro Stephen Bunting for a light-hearted “British Test” interview with SportsJOE.
The duo tackled one of the nation’s toughest questions: would Britons rather give up tea or beer?
Both MVG and Bunting reckoned tea would come off worse and they were spot on, with a survey revealing that 60 per cent of Brits would give up their cuppa rather than their alcoholic beverage.
World No.4 Van Gerwen had no doubts about what he would choose.
He said: “I’ve never drunk beer in my life.”
Van Gerwen was asked what he considers typically British and did not hesitate with his response.
He added: “Definitely an English breakfast — 100%.
“If you go to an airport in England in the morning, whatever time it is, they’re having a nice big pint.
“And where’s the sun cream? They never use it!”
The three-time world champion was also quizzed alongside Bunting whose walk-on the English prefers.
Former Masters champion Bunting’s entrance music is ‘Titanium’, and Van Gerwen acknowledged that fans love a tune they can belt out and sing along to.
He continued: “The Brits will say Stephen Bunting. The Brits love a song they can sing along to.”
St Helens thrower Bunting agreed: “It adds to the performance. The fans pay good money — we’ve got to give them something back.”
Bunting came out on top in the poll, securing an impressive 61 per cent of the vote.
Van Gerwen was questioned whether Brits believed they have the best cuisine in the world.
The 48-time major winner did not blink: “No. They can’t think that!”
He was backed up with 73 per cent saying NO. But the remaining 27 per cent said yes.
Van Gerwen chipped in: “Because they love their country!”
