WOODHOUSE EYES FIRST PDC TITLE
29/09/2025 By Aaron Nijjar
LUKE WOODHOUSE believes his long-awaited maiden PDC title is just around the corner after a sensational run to the Swiss Darts Trophy final.
‘Woody’ lit up Basel with some of the finest arrows of his career, smashing a tournament-record 110.69 average in a ruthless 6-2 demolition of Dave Chisnall in round two.
The 36-year-old rode that hot streak all the way to Sunday night’s showpiece at the St Jakobshalle Arena, before finally being halted 8-3 by in-form Stephen Bunting.
World No.31 Woodhouse remains the highest-ranked player yet to lift a PDC crown – but insists it is only a matter of time before that wait ends.
He said: “It’s all positive for me now. Just getting to a final is a massive achievement and I’d have taken it at the start of the weekend.
“I’m hoping now this can be the start of something I can really push on to and take this into the ProTours and into the rest of the year.
“I’m more than capable of playing against any player. I’ve beaten all the top players. Hopefully this year, a first title comes.”
Woodhouse’s steady rise has been impossible to ignore. In 2023, he broke through with a maiden ProTour final at Players Championship 14.
Last year, the Worcestershire ace went one better by storming into his first major semi-final at the European Championship.
Now in 2025, he has climbed another rung on the ladder by reaching his first Euro Tour final – and believes the next step is finally lifting silverware.
