WRIGHT VOWS TO COME BACK STRONGER

06/09/2025 By Aaron Nijjar

PETER WRIGHT has vowed to bounce back after enduring a difficult season on the oche.

‘Snakebite’ battled past Benjamin Pratnemer 6-2 in the last 32 of the Czech Darts Open, though he averaged just 83.24 at the Expo Arena.

The two-time world champion has struggled for form this year, suffering FOUR Euro Tour second-round exits and still searching for a ProTour title in 2025.

But Wright insists he is working hard to rediscover his spark and says the Prague crowd gave him the energy to grind out victory.

He said: “I’m trying to boost myself and play like the old Snakebite.

“But I’m coming back I have lost a bit of weight, and I will be better tomorrow.

“I got dropped off at the gates from security and I had to walk through many of the crowd and there were so many snakebite fans.

“I really appreciate it and it’s nice to know there is still so many snakebite fans around.

“I will be back don’t you worry.

“Thanks to all the sponsors and these fans are what we need everywhere.”

World No. 16 Wright won the competition two years ago, edging Dave Chisnall 8-6 in the final at Prague, and will be aiming for another deep run this weekend.

The Scot returns to action tomorrow against either Stephen Bunting or Kevin Doets in round three.
