VAN DER VOORT DEFENDS WINMAU BLADE X BOARD AFTER PLAYER COMPLAINTS

VINCENT VAN DER VOORT has leapt to the defence of the Winmau Blade X board after Gary Anderson branded it “absolutely rank”.
The dartboard has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks following a series of high-profile bounce-outs, with Anderson among the most vocal critics during the World Cup of Darts.
World No12 Anderson even revealed he had changed his points because of concerns over how his darts were entering the board.
Martin Schindler made headlines after his country’s quarter-final defeat to the Netherlands by throwing a Blade X board — packaging included — into a rubbish bin.
Van der Voort understands why players are frustrated but stopped short of backing Anderson’s scathing assessment.
He told the Darts Draait Door Podcast: “I don’t agree with him, but if so many players are focused on it, you have to listen and take it seriously.
“It’s the best board in terms of how long it lasts, but that doesn’t mean anything, because you might as well hang up a wooden plank, that lasts even longer.
“The board at the PDC has to be good, top quality. There will be changes. The problem is of course being taken seriously.”
Former UK Open finalist Van der Voort revealed the manufacturer is already investigating the cause of the problems.
He added: “There are definitely concerns and this will be resolved.
“They’re really good boards, but too many darts are falling out. As Winmau you have to take it seriously.
“Everything is tested at Winmau. They suspect it’s due to cold. It has to come from somewhere.”
