Menzies more upset over Defoe Rangers blow!

CAMERON MENZIES admitted he was more upset about Jermaine Defoe quitting Rangers than missing out on a PDC Tour Card.

The Muirkirk ace reached the final Q School in the opening event but lost to James Wilson in Milton Keynes.

That meant Menzies didn’t gain an automatic tour card to join the likes of Peter Wright, Gary Anderson and Alan Soutar.

But he can still qualify in the points table after the entire Qualifying School events finish on Saturday.

After losing the final, he said: “I don’t know what I am more gutted about. Bottling it today or Jermaine Defoe leaving Rangers.”

Menzies also appeared to lash out at the social media haters aimed at his girlfriend Fallon Sherrock.

Sherrock has lost her opening two games at Q School and faces an uphill fight to gain a tour card. Darts fans have hit out on social media about the constant media attention on her.

Menzies added on his Twitter: “I hate social media..full of negative opinions degrading people who do things they can dream about. Who sacrifice alot to get where they are. Why we so jealous man.

“BTW this isn’t me most of people have been amazing to me. A mean In general were all human we don’t deserve that s***.”

Wilson was ecstatic to regain his tour card after a dreadful run of injuries had seen him slump down the rankings.

He said: “I feel fantastic – I’ve played in the Worlds in the first round, and failed to keep my card. I knew I had to come here, kick on and things went really well.

“I just had to keep focused all day and I’m delighted I have done it. With Covid, I couldn’t defend my money on the European Tour and fell down the rankings, as well as injuries hampering me.

“Here it is really hard work, but after competing at the World Championship I felt confident I could do it.”
